Top 5 Ice Cream Spots In Sacramento

Every year our local news station KCRA does a best list of  the local Sacramento region the best places to eat, drink, shop, gamble all kinds of things. They are voted on by the customers this year they had more than 207,000 votes. With the warm weather here I thought I would share with you guys the top five ice cream places.
#1 Leatherby’s Family Creamery they have multiple locations I have only been to the one on Arden Way. Since I was little my family and I would always go on those long hot summer nights and grab a sundae. I haven’t been in a long time since before we moved to the Bay Area.

The last time we went Jon was 4

Since 1982 customers from all over Northern California have flocked to Leatherby’s for enormous sundaes, great food, and a fabulous family atmosphere…”

#2 Gunther’s Ice Cream on Franklin Blvd. We use to live by this location and would stop all the time on Friday’s after school for their daily hand made ice cream and their Mango real fruit freeze. My parents still live by there so I take Jon and Juli when I visit them.

                                                                                                                      My mom and Jon

#3 Munnerlyn’s Ice Creamery, I haven’t tried this place, but I will make sure I do next time I pass by Pine Grove.  It seems like quite a unique ice cream place.

“We offer the only hand crafted frozen desserts in the area. We use the freshest local fruits and the highest quality ingredients in our ice cream. We use hormone and antibiotic free dairy only in our ice cream”
HoursMon: 2pm – 8pm | Wed-Sun: 2pm – 8pm

#4 I have been wanting to try this place forever, I have no idea why I haven’t, I think we’ll go tomorrow when Jon gets off school. My friend had her a small birthday dinner here, she said it was a lot of fun even though she’s definitely not a kid. It seems like you would step back in time as soon as you step into this place. I can’t wait until we go!

Weekend Snaps

Hope you guys enjoyed this long 3day weekend as much as we did. It was a busy one for us. Started off with Jon placing hundreds of flags with his fellow cub scouts/ boy scouts for our fallen soldiers at the Old City Cemetary, it is the oldest cemetery here in Sacramento. Then ending with having dinner at his favorite wing place with his grandparents.
Saturday we went to the International Kids Festival in William Land park. Kids had a lot of fun, they had a lot of different rides and activities for the kids. Jon tried the rock climbing made it half way. Juliana wanted to try every bounce house they had, even the ones for the big kids, my little dare devil. They also had performers from different nationalities doing multicultural dances. We caught two when we got there, but getting Jon or Juli to stay for anymore with so much going on was impossible. I saw they had a couple food trucks, but we didn’t try any because we were gonna grab something to eat with my mom.

Sunday, oh boy Sunday it was a very looooong day. It called for a big glass of wine at the end of the day (ok a couple glasses, ok the bottle who was counting, not me) Jon woke up in a mood, he’s a pretty good kid, but occasionally he gets into these moods. That I just cannot deal. He has such a bad attitude and the back talking and mood swings, horrible. We finally managed to leave the house in the afternoon to go to Home Depot, to buy chemicals for our pool that’s turning green. Jon still dragging his feet behind me, complaining about being at Home Depot. My mom calls to see what we were doing, She asked me if we wanted to go to my step brothers soccer game. I said sure, we could use some fresh air. We get to the park and I’m taking out Juliana out of her car seat and she went poop (we’re working on potty training, I thought we had a handle on it.) Yup poop I look behind her and it’s all over her white dress, all over her back, on the car seat. Of course, I don’t have an extra pair of clothes for her. I was lucky to have wipes in my bag. My mom came over and I told her we weren’t going to be able to stay. We got home and hooray I still had to clean the pool because Julian doesn’t get home until night and we were having family over to bbq and swim. That was my Sunday.
Monday was much better had the family over for some good food and some good laughs.

Coolest Outdoor Toys

With the weather getting nicer, we all love hanging outside. Even though our yard still needs a lot of work and for the most part I spend my time making lists in my head of what needs to be done. Enough about that, we like playing different games with the kids even though Julian is super competitive and we have to remind him sometimes it’s not a tournament buddy turn it down a notch. I was looking online for outdoor toys, Jon came walking by and was yelling how cool some of the toys were. It gave me an idea, (Blog Post) so according to Jon our 9-year-old these are some of the COOLEST outdoor toys.

Weekend Snaps

We had a pretty relaxed weekend, Saturday we were supposed to go to San Jose for a friends birthday party, but Julian was feeling too tired from work. We decided to have our weekly family dinner instead my sister in law and her family came over.  With a yummy cheesecake the variety sampler, last week she also brought a cheesecake, I think it was from Reily’s. That one was plain, but it was soooo good and creamy with a delicious perfect crust. Sunday we just went to South Side Park in downtown and then out for ice cream.

Hope you guys have a fabulous week!!

Weekend Snaps

It felt like a very long weekend! We finally finished with the pool, so Jon feels the need to go swimming everyday.  Saturday we went to my sister in laws communion/ birthday party for her boys that was fun. Started a little hectic in the morning I still had to buy one present. I went to target and somewhere in between paying and Juli having a meltdown, because I would not buy her any candy. I forgot my gift bags on the counter, ahhhhhh!! I hate when that happens and I had bought a set for like $10. I Completely overpaid when I can just go to the Dollar Tree, but I was trying to avoid that. In the end I had to anyways, I didn’t notice until I got home about the gift bags.  The best part of my day was finally eating some gelatina de leche (Mexican milk jello) I can eat a container by myself it is soo good. I really need to learn how to make it myself.

I hope you mommas out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day and were showered with a lot of Love! I woke up slightly with Jon asking me “Hey mom where’s the hot glue gun” When I was finally up, Jon had made me a card with beads glued on to spell mom and coffee. Juli was still sleeping, like if she had a rough night. We went out for brunch and a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up some things for Mother’s Day dinner at our house.

When we got home I got a frantic phone call from my mother in law, saying something had happened to our niece Alex. I called my sis in law and she said Alex had just collapsed and was unresponsive. She asked if I could go pick up her other little ones and bring them over while they were in the ER. My niece is ok, they said she was just dehydrated, she has an appointment tomorrow just to make sure she is ok. We still all got together later in the evening very thankful she was ok.

Hope you guys have a fabulous week!!

On Trend: Chunky Heels

I really like a good chunky heel, so I’m very happy I’ve been spotting them around. I have a couple pair in my own closet, they are very comfortable enough to run around in them all day. Even enough to wear to the playground and chase around Jon and Juliana.

Weekend Snaps

We had a lot of fun this weekend! We went to San Jose to visit some friends for fight night. I didn’t really care who won, I was just there for the delicious food, yummy drinks, and great company. I love it that once a couple times a year we hang out with Julian’s childhood friends. The bond that they have, after all, these years,  and now all grown up most married with a family of their own it’s nice. And hearing all the crazy stories from when they were younger is enough entertainment for the night.

Of course staying at a hotel all the kids wanted to do was swim. I swear when we go on mini trips we don’t even have to go anywhere interesting as long as its a nice hotel and it has a pool the kids are happy staying there all day long.

Hope you guys have a fabulous week!!
