Camp Lassen

This past weekend we went to Camp Lassen’s annual family camp. Jon joined the cubscouts earlier this year. This was the first time he got to go camping with some of the boys in his troop. It was so much fun Jon and Juli were actually overwhelmed with the amount of activities they had going on. We only stayed one night though because we had plans already to visit family in Watsonville on Sunday. Julian also wasn’t able to make it since it was kind of short notice.
The activities they had rock climbing, archery, shooting, row boats, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, crafts and so much more. For the most part of the day we spent our time on the water. Even though it was so cold 50 degrees. Juli wanted to sit and put her feet in the water and she jumped right up because the water was so cold.
It was just nice to be out there in the fresh air the smell of pine. It was funny we were driving up and out of nowhere there was the strong smell of fresh pine and a deer just walking by. Nature we love it!
Since we had to leave Saturday evening before it got dark because as you can imagine it is so pitch black out in the mountains. Also no cell service so the last thing I wanted was to get lost at night in the middle of nowhere. Isn’t that how horror movies start?  We had to miss the bonfire fun. We will definitely have to go back next year the whole family.
What did you guys do this weekend?
Until next time!

Breakfast Fruit Smoothie Made With Glucerna

I would like to get up to a nice hearty breakfast, who wouldnt. With the weather getting colder I hit the snooze button a little longer than I would like to admit. Just so I can have extra minutes snuggled in bed. Mornings like that I like to go for an easy breakfast smoothie to go. Something simple using Glucerna it’s a smart way to help get the right kinds of carbs throughout the day.

I enjoy Glucerna it has a yummy taste and I’ve also introduced it to my mother and father in law when they moved in with us a couple moths ago. Did you know an estimated that 57 million people have pre-diabetes in the US, and 35% are estimated to be Hispanic. My mother and father in law are two of those people and being their age it’s hard to change your eating habbits. They enjoy eating arroz, frijoles, tortillas, chicharones or anything fried. Who doesnt like to indulge once in a while, i’m guilty of it, but not all the time. It’s just how they were raised and what they know. Since they have moved it with us they like the healthier alternatives that I use and that makes us all very happy.
When I went to Walmart yesterday to pick up some supplies for our camping trip this weekend. I picked up a couple cans of Glucerna Snack Shakes in their Vanilla flavor. You can find in the health and beauty area in the diabetic aisle. They have a variety of products not just shakes that help manage your blood sugar levels called Carbsteady helps minimize blood sugar spikes or just help maintain your weight. They also have a meal plan on their site. It’s very useful to use a meal plan especially if you are just staring on your health journey.

Shop & Give Back with Campbell’s Labels For Education® Program

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #1Million4edu #CollectiveBias

Growing up with parents that are from Mexico that came here to California with nothing and barely an education. My parents were always on top of me about my education. Especially my dad who would always tell me ” Mija buena educacion es lo mas importante que tener” my dads parents sadly had to choose when he was younger who would continue their education and who would have to quit school and get a job to help the family out. That was my dad who had to quit school. His brother went on with his education and became an attorney in Mexico. My dad was always very hard working so I would just have to worry about school and getting my education. It’ still something we always tell our little ones about how important education is and how thankful we were to have had parents that pushed us so hard.
Going to school here in Sacramento I remember my elementary and middle school always talking about cutbacks in the school system citywide. We would always have all kinds of fundraisers selling candy bars, cookies, Christmas wrapping paper and even having to go door to door to ask for money for our school through I think they were called Jog-a-thons. We would get sponsored to run around in our schools field.

Our sons schools does not do that kind of fundraising so I’m glad that we have programs like Campbell’s Labels For Education where you can collect labels, UPCs or beverage/sauce caps from  many of their participating products and earn stuff for your school. It’s something we all come together and do family members PTA and other members in the community. Jon likes being able to help his school and scouting out which products have Campbell’s Labels For Education.

We picked up some of our favorite snacks from Target yesterday and as you can see Jon and Juli couldn’t keep their hands off the Goldfish until we got home. I heard them munching on them as soon as we left the Target parking lot. That will be our first Campbell’s Labels For Education this school year.
With school back in session, it was time to create a new organization board for the year. We normally just put our Campbell’s Labels For Education on the fridge in a little zip lock bag until we take them to the school. This time, I thought I would just add a little caddy to our board and the kids can easily drop them in the caddy.

I can’t tell you how excited I was to finally make this board. Organization in this house is key to getting anything done and on time.

Items:
Foam Board
Hot glue gun
Small whiteboard
Small cork board
Small Caddy
ClipBoard
Colorful scrapbook paper
Chore chart

-Start organizing to your liking, I want a lot of color in our organization board. That way the kids are drawn to it. That’s what I’m hoping for anyways.

On the caddy where we will put all our Labels For Education, I just glued the logo in the front.

All done!

Labels For Education is having a Sweepstakes enter to help your local school to win awesome prizes!
Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 AM EST on 8/3/15 and ends at 11:59 PM EST on 10/09/15

Happy crafting and collecting!

Weekend Snaps

Friday I tried to make sauteed shrimp in chile verde. It came out ok, I think I should have sauteed the shrimp in the sauce a little bit longer.

Saturday we had a lazy day, caught up with some house work and some homework.

Sunday we went to Walnut Creek to a 1st birthday party at Heather Farms Park. It has been completely remodeled since we lived there.

Since it was a long weekend for Labor Day we went to William Land Park for some baseball and yummy bbq.

What did you guys do this long weekend?

Fiesta Time

Between me and both my sister in law’s we did all the decorating for the Fiesta we had this past weekend. Here are a few photo’s before the party began, you can use them as inspiration for your next Fiesta. We bought things from around everywhere Walmart, little Mexican shops, Dollar Tree and found a few items at this random party shop in Elk Grove called Liz’s Craft & Party Supply.

For only having about a month to plan this party it was not bad at all we really came together. Were there any mishaps, of course, can’t be a Gonzalez Party without a mishap. We didn’t have much food besides chips, salsa and some fruit. Because we were supposed to have a taco truck start serving at 2 when the party started. Do you know when he showed up at 3:30 same time as the banda, everyone was starving and Julian was about to pop a neck vein he was so mad. After that, everything was smooth sailing and everyone had a great time. Especially Julian’s dad he was very happy at what we threw together for his retirement birthday party.

What your next party your planning?
Until next time!
